Favourite Love Songs by Olivia Newton-John

1. Let me be there – My favourite love song by Olivia Newton-John

I have a few favourite love songs sung by Olivia Newton-John. Here is one of those perfection performances. I remember seeing her on TV in South Africa a long time ago. It seemed like she came out of nowhere to take over the music world, winning all the adoration and trophies the world had to offer.

2. Please Mr Please

We all go through heartaches, and this is one of those songs. Some cowboy keeps playing her song on the jukebox that reminds her of her ex-boyfriend. To me, every song holds a special meaning and a certain feeling, so I can relate to the feelings of this song.

3. Banks of the Ohio

I remember having this song on a tape while in Africa, and it feels very real to me because of something that happened recently. I gave a young girl a ride in the taxi, and she said she was pregnant, but her boyfriend doesn’t want anything to do with the baby. She said her mother was standing by her. In the song Olivia sings that her boyfriend didn’t want to marry her, so she killed him. He cried: “My love, don’t you murder me, I’m not prepared for eternity.” Some guys are not prepared to be fathers, and maybe a lot of people are not prepared for eternity. I believe that to have eternal life, we must receive Jesus Christ as our own personal Savior.

4. I honestly love you

Some years back I bought a tape of Olivia Newton-John, but when I listened to it, I found I didn’t like it. She had changed. It was acid rock or something. Years ago we took some friends to see the Movie ‘Grease’ when it came out, and we were shocked when she changed in that movie. Maybe she changed for real too, I don’t know, but I like the young Olivia, who was the sweet country girl.
