South African Comedy

Jeremy Taylor – Lift girls lament

Jeremy used to write and sing a lot of fun songs. I remember one song about taking his horse to town, and the policeman stuck a parking ticket on the horses bum.

Al Debbo – Sonbrilletjies

I wanted to get his song about all the dogs in Turfontein, but couldn’t find it, so I have here his song about sunglasses. There was a hit song by Sandy Posey about sunglasses, and this is a spoof on that song in the Afrikaans language.

South African Comedy – Zebra

There is a guy in South Africa that made a lot of comedy movies. His name is Leon Schuster. Here is one clip.

Getting meat in Zimbabwe

My family say this was done by photoshop. When I grew up in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), the whole northern section was teeming with wildlife. I have heard many times on the news that some of the people are now starving.

UNTAG comes in

There is a whole movie about the United Nations group called UNTAG, but I haven’t seen it.

Americans in Africa

I have laughed so much over this stupid clip, but language communication is a very big problem in Africa. I sang once at a mission station in Rhodesia, and the missionary told me how he told the people in his sermon that the gospel is free, and the interpreter told the people the the gospel was cheap. So he stopped the interpreter, and explained that it cost Jesus His life. Later on, terrorists attacked that mission station and killed all the missionaries.

Pictures of Africa

This is not comedy, but it is pictures of different places in Africa. I have only been in eight countries in Southern Africa, but many people in North America think that Africa is all mud huts and jungles. Most of Africa is mud huts, but there are also big cities teeming with millions of people. One time in South Africa I was riding with an American missionary in his cadillac, and I spoke to him about this. He said that when he goes back to the States he only shows pictures of his mission work in order to build up funds.

Stuck in the fence

This is a comedy clip of a person trying to get through the fence from Zimbabwe to South Africa. It is a very real problem in Africa. When there is trouble in one country, the people flee to another one.

The gods must be crazy trailer

This movie gives a glimpse of life in Southern Africa. I think it is the most well know South African comedy movie.

The gods must be crazy 2 trailer

I enjoyed the second South African comedy movie more than the first. It is one of my favorite movies.

Lady and the baboon

To me this is real good South African comedy. I enjoyed the scene there the American lady tries to get water from the windmill, and her interaction with the baboon.

When I was a kid in Rhodesia, Wrex Tarr was a big hit. I have just found some of the things I remember.

Little Red Riding Hood

Listen to it, it is funny.

Cricket

How to make rain, British style.

Zacka nacka tablets

Funny commercial, African style.

I also have a Gospel web site. If you want to check it out, go to:  http://countrygospelandbible.com/
