Favourite Love Songs for Weddings

Hi. I have made a list of my favourite love songs for weddings, and I hope you find it helpful if you are planning to get married. Back in the sixty’s I sang a song at my cousin’s marriage called : “Whom God hath joined together.” Then I was going to sing it at my own ceremony in 1972, but she pitched up at the church unexpectedly. I felt embarrassed to sing the same number that I did at her marriage, so, on the spur of the moment I sang a different one that was not appropriate, and I made a right mess.

1. Whom God hath joined together

“Whom God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.” I heard it on a Stuart Hamblen record, but I can’t find it on the internet. Marriage is supposed to be forever. For better or for worse, for richer or for poorer.

2. Loving you

The way he sings it out on the farm is so tender. “I could spend my whole life through, loving you, just loving you.”

3. Could I have this dance?

“Could I have this dance for the rest of my life? Would you be my partner every night? When we’re together, it feels so right.” The pictures on this video are so beautiful and romantic. You can’t have it better than this! One of my favourite love songs for weddings.

4. Forever and for always

“I’m keeping you forever and for always.” The way this video is done is so beautiful, tracing love from childhood through to old age. That is the way it is supposed to be.

5. Why do I love you?

“I love you because you are helping to make of the lumber of my life, not a tavern, but a temple.” This song points out that his partner is helping him to become a better person. That’s what we all need.

6. True love

“While I give to you, and you give to me, true love, true love.” This scene is so romantic. I read the book where all her leading men fell in love with her.

7. Love me tender

I have chosen the movie version because of all the meaning behind the story. He marries the girl on the chair in the movie. “I’ll be yours through all the years, till the end of time.” It’s a pity in real life it didn’t work out like that.

8. I’ll never find another you

“I could search the whole world over until my life is through, but I know I’ll never find another you.” This was a hit when I was a teenager.

9. You’re the reason I’m living

“A long, long time ago, when I was down. You picked me up and showed me, true love still could be found.” Some really good words here.

10. My happiness

“Whether skies are gray or blue, any place on earth will do, just as long as I’m with you, my happiness.” Beautiful words. I think I heard my Mother sing this , but it is still one of my favourite love songs from a long time ago.

11. The search is ended

“I’ve searched the whole over for someone just like you.” “You’re the perfect girl, and I’ll tell the world, the search is ended.” Some very good words there. This song might go down well at a wedding.

12. Good luck charm

“Your love is worth all the gold on earth.” I remember when we first visited America, this song was on my mind.

13. A world of our own

“Just leave us alone, and we’ll live in a world of our own.” That’s what marriage is all about.

14. Welcome to my world

“Welcome to my world, won’t you come on in.” This number was very popular in Rhodesia. Many meaningful words.

15. There’ll never be anyone else but you for me

I think this is still one of the most beautiful love songs.

16. The nearest thing to heaven

“You’re the nearest thing to heaven, yes you are, I have searched for happiness so long and far.” Everyone is searching for happiness. Sometime I lie in bed at night and sing this over in my mind. This is one of the best of my favourite love songs.

17. All I ask of you

“Love me, that’s all I ask of you.” I saw this on TV in Africa many years ago, and just found it last week on the net. This is so beautiful and romantic. I think right now this could classify as my favourite love song for a wedding. I imagine it on a big screen behind the people getting married. Wow.

18. A Wedding Song – (favourite love)

I just heard this song, so am adding it. To me, it feels perfect for a wedding. “God bless this couple.”
