Favourite love songs by Roy Orbison

When I was a teenager Roy Orbison had some hit songs. During my high school days, when I started singing at a showground in Salisbury, I was very shy, and wore dark glasses to hide my eyes. When I see photos of him without his dark glasses, it is a bit of a shock. It just doesn’t feel right! He must wear those dark glasses all the time! So here are some of my favourite love songs sung by him.

1. Pretty woman – on Dukes of Hazzard TV show

Nice video.

2. You got it – my favourite love song by Roy Orbison

This was a hit song just before he died.

3. Move on down the line

I heard this song on my neighbour’s record by Cliff Richard when I was a teenager. It felt so exciting!

4. Sweet dream Baby

This song was written by Cindy Walker, who wrote many hit songs for Jim Reeves.

5. Claudette

He wrote this song about his first wife, and sold it to the Everly Brothers.

6. Pretty woman

The movie gave this song a new life with a new generation.

7. Blue Bayou

8. California blue

9. In dreams

10. Blue Bayou – beautiful pictures

I love to be by the sea. Years ago this favourite love song burned within my heart. “Saving nickels, saving dimes, working till the sun don’t shine, looking forward to happier times on Blue Bayou.”

11. Only the lonely

This was a big hit when I was a kid.

12. Running scared

A very interesting love song. Don’t give up!

13. Crying

14. Unchained melody

15. It’s over

16. You’ll never walk alone

17. You don’t know me

I first heard this song by Elvis on Clambake.

18. I can’t stop loving you

This is still one of my favourite love songs.

19. No one will ever know

I have this on a record by Al Martino.

20. Where have all the flowers gone

21. Pretty paper

I think this song was written by Willie Nelson.

22. Sweet Caroline

23. Mean woman blues

I love the way Roy Orbison does the growl in this song. I remembering hearing this when I was young. It was different from Elvis’ version.

24. What’d I say

25. Bridge over troubled water

26. Blue angel

27. Let’s make a memory

Cliff Richard had a song with the same title, but a completely different song.

28. Windsurfer

“I long to go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky.”

29. Distant drums

Jim Reeves had a big hit with this song. I didn’t even Know Roy Orbison recorded this song until yesterday.

30. That’s alright Mama

I wonder if Roy Orbison copied Elvis, or if Elvis copied him!

Before, when I had favourite love songs on this page, they took all of the links off to the YouTube! So I am re-doing this page, and see what happens.
