My Favourite Cowboy Love Songs

My love for cowboy songs has something to do with all the wild west comics I had as a kid.

1. Running gun – Marty Robbins – my favourite cowboy love song

This was the first favourite cowboy love songs that I sang in public.

2. Fool’s Paradise – Jim Reeves

This cowboy won’t be seeing his girlfriend again.

3. Bonanza – Johnny Cash

I used to watch TV at a friend’s house when I was a teenager, and saw a few of the American shows. In fact I have a whole bunch of videos. In Africa we had an LP of Lorne Green singing this song, plus a whole lot of really good western songs.

4. El Paso – Marty Robbins

A big hit for Marty Robbins. Another favourite cowboy love song. It is amazing what men will do to try and win the love of a woman.

5. Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys – Willie Nelson

Big crowd.

6. Tumbling tumbleweeds – Rhonda

When I was young I heard this song by The Sons of the Pioneers, but I like this version by Rhonda, together with all the beautiful pictures.

7. Big Iron – Marty Robbins

Very good animation video. Marty Robbins singing.

8. Ringo – Lorne Greene

Lorne Greene classic.

9. Rawhide – Frankie Laine

This was a very popular TV show when I was young.

10. A hundred and sixty acres – Marty Robbins

I had this song on a tape back in the 70’s. I loved this song, and longed to be in America.

11. Don’t take your guns to town – Johnny Cash

There are some big lessons in this song by Johnny Cash.

12. Cool Water – Frankie Laine

In Africa we always had a shortage of water, so this song is real, done here by Frankie Laine.

13. The Last Round-Up – Gene Autry

I am old now, and feel like I am heading for the last round-up.

14. Happy Trails – Roy Rogers and Dale Evans

I had a comic of Roy Rogers too.

15. Don’t fence me in – Frankie Laine

Many very beautiful photos of the west. I long to be there.

16. My rifle, my pony and me – Dean Martin

17. Boots and saddle – Gene Autry

18. The Lone Ranger – Opening theme

I had a comic of The Lone Ranger, and loved it, and I saw him once on TV at my friend’s house. When we were in Canada, I met Tonto’s brother.

19. Back in the Saddle again – Gene Autry

Lots of famous cowboy characters.

20. Cattle call – Slim Whitman

Some very beautiful sunset photos of cowboys on their horses.

Many of the songs I link to on the YouTube seem to get removed. Maybe they were pirate copies, or maybe they were stolen by the Pirates of the Caribbean. If any of you see Johnny Depp, ask him if he has seen the songs.
