Rose Songs

The Rose

Bette Midler sings it so good.

Room full of Roses

Here is Mickey Gilley. This is one of my favorite love songs. Lots of singers have sung this, but I first heard it by Jim Reeves. I remember working at a printing place in Bulawayo when this song was played on the radio. There is a singer in South Africa that has made this song very popular over there, and it is featured in one of Leon Schusters joke movies, where he dresses up as a woman and wants a rose, and a fight nearly breaks out. It was written by Tim Spencer, who later went into gospel singing and changed the words to “Christ is a wonderful Savior.”

Red roses for a blue lady

Lots of singers sing this, but here are the Ray Conniff Singers.

Paper roses

I heard this number on the radio by Anita Bryant, but I like the ‘live’ version by Marie Osmond.

Rose garden

This was a big hit for Lynn Anderson.

Where the roses never fade

Jill Mason and the Heartland Bluegrass Band.

Just one rose will do

The Lewis Family.

Many of the songs I link to on the YouTube seem to get removed. Maybe they were pirate copies, or maybe they were stolen by the Pirates of the Caribbean. If any of you see Johnny Depp, ask him if he has seen the songs.
