It is a sad love song, but it has such a nice beat, and such a nice tune. \u201cEv\u2019rybody\u2019s goin\u2019 out an\u2019 havin\u2019 fun. I\u2019m just a fool for stayin\u2019 home an\u2019 havin\u2019 none.\u201d I loved singing that song and it was one of my favorite love songs when I was young. This version is June Carter and Don Gibson.<\/p>\n

Heartaches by the number by Ray Price<\/a><\/p>\n

One guy was in the military where everything was done by numbers, so he wrote a song called: \u201cHeartaches by the number,\u201d which was a hit when I was young. It is such a swinging song, even though it is sad.

\nThings<\/a><\/p>\n

Bobby Darin had a song called \u201cThings.\u201d There was a time when that song would make me so sad when I sang it to myself, and had no girlfriend.<\/p>\n

A sad love song by Jim Reeves<\/a><\/p>\n

I mentioned earlier that I was into Jim Reeves\u2019 songs when I was a teenager, and some of them would make me very sad and blue. One particular song wasn\u2019t good for me. It was called: \u201dA letter to my Heart.\u201d It is about a guy singing to his heart, to forget the girl who didn\u2019t want him. \u201cIf you won\u2019t stop beating for her, then dear heart stop beating for me.\u201d If someone doesn\u2019t want us, we have to leave the past behind and press on to the future. Like they say \u201cthere are plenty more fish in the ocean.\u201d I keep thinking of a story in the Bible where God tells the prophet Samuel to stop mourning over King Saul, and go and anoint a new king. So many country songs are about mourning over lost love. It is not good to cry over the past, we need to look forward to the future.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve enjoyed as much of this as I can stand<\/a><\/p>\n

One time when I was at college in Salisbury, I was dating a girl, then she told me her boyfriend was coming into town the next day. That shocked me. I thought I was her boyfriend. I went back to the residence, and was singing to console myself, when the others guys were all laughing. It was a song I heard Jim Reeves sing. It starts off very nice, \u201cYou look lovelier tonight than I remember, I\u2019m so glad I got to see you once again.\u201d Then it ends with, \u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed as much of this as I can stand.\u201d Sometimes songs can help console a person.

\nI can\u2019t stop loving you<\/a><\/p>\n

Another song that is so real to me is, \u201cI can\u2019t stop loving you, it\u2019s useless to say, so I\u2019ll just live my life in dreams of yesterday.\u201d Lots of singers have sung that song, but Ray Charles does it real good. I love the ladies singing that high harmony with him. \u201cThose happy hours, that we once knew, though long ago, still make me blue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bye Bye Love<\/a><\/p>\n

Another sad song I used to sing a lot when I was a teenager was \u201cBye, bye love, bye, bye happiness, hello emptiness.\u201d I heard it on an Everly Brothers record. I loved their harmony and their music. Someone lent my brother an LP where they were on a motor bike, with the guy on the back having a guitar slung around his back. It looked like those guys were living such an exciting life. All these images were fixed in my mind as a teenager. The world of music and singing seemed so exciting.<\/p>\n
