Frank Sinatra sang a lot of my mother’s favourite love songs, and they bring back a lot of memories of my childhood. Many songs have been taken off YouTube after I posted them on this site. Sorry about that old chap!<\/p>\n
1. Just the way you look tonight<\/a><\/p>\n This one takes me way back to my childhood when my mother sang this at home in Greendale, Salisbury, Rhodesia. “Keep that breathless charm.”<\/p>\n 2. Something Stupid (with Nancy)<\/a><\/p>\n They sing so good together. Wow.<\/p>\n 3. South of the Border<\/a><\/p>\n I first heard my mother singing this one. Some years back I used to sing at Portal Village, and someone requested this song, so I borrowed a Frank Sinatra tape from the library, and learnt the words. So this became one of my favourite love songs.<\/p>\n 4. As time goes by<\/a><\/p>\n I always associate this one with being at the back door of the house, and my mother singing it. I guess she was singing in the kitchen. “A case of do or die.” “The world will always welcome lovers.” So many of those words still stick in my brain. “Love songs – never out of date.” Isn’t that so true?<\/p>\n 5. Always (and When I lost you)<\/a><\/p>\n I can so clearly hear my mother singing this one. As I listened to “Always” I remembered the words, so I want to check this one as one of my favourite love songs. “Things may not be fair, always.”<\/p>\n 6. Cheek to cheek<\/a><\/p>\n My mother must have been a big fan, because I often heard this one.<\/p>\n 7. Chicago – My kind of town<\/a><\/p>\n It looks like a pretty scary place to me!<\/p>\n 8. For once in my life<\/a><\/p>\n It is so important to find someone.<\/p>\n 9. Got you under my skin<\/a><\/p>\n I have often heard this one on the radio.<\/p>\n 10. Begin the Beguine<\/a><\/p>\n Here’s another one my mother used to sing.<\/p>\n 11. Night and day<\/a><\/p>\n As I was getting these songs ready, it struck me how romantic his songs are.<\/p>\n 12. It had to be you<\/a><\/p>\n It had to be you even with your faults. We all have them.<\/p>\n 13. I’ll be seeing you<\/a><\/p>\n Years ago I played in an old timers band and this was one of them that they used to play.<\/p>\n 14. I wish you love<\/a><\/p>\n The words are so lovely.<\/p>\n 15. Summer Wind<\/a><\/p>\n I remember riding in the taxi and hearing this one.<\/p>\n 16. You make me feel so young<\/a><\/p>\n Wow. What lovely words.<\/p>\n 17.
