Eddie Fisher<\/a><\/p>\n When I was a kid, I remember my mother talking about Eddie Fisher, but I didn\u2019t have a clue about who he was. About ten years ago I read the book by Debbie Reynolds, and found out a lot about him. I was surprised to find he was the father of the princess in Star Wars. Last year I heard him singing this song on the radio, and liked his voice, his style, and his music. \u201cI\u2019m walking behind you.\u201d<\/p>\n John D. Loudermilk<\/a><\/p>\n When I was a teenager, this guy\u2019s song \u201cBlue Train (of the heartbreak line)\u201d was a hit, and I remember singing this song on a tape for my uncle, that got me a chance to do my first show. Memories!<\/p>\n Scott McKenzie<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cSan Francisco\u201d was a big hit when I was at survey college in Salisbury, Rhodesia. I think it was to do with the hippie flower movement. We didn\u2019t have those sort of movements in Africa, but it seemed very exciting.<\/p>\n Maurice Chevalier<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThank heaven for little girls.\u201d When I worked at a printing place in Bulawayo, I heard this song many times on the radio. I didn\u2019t know the name of the singer until I searched for it on the net, but I remember this guy\u2019s weird accent.<\/p>\n Guy Mitchell<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cSinging the Blues\u201d was a bit hit when I was a kid, and the world of singing and music seemed so exciting to me. However, when I have sung this song, it doesn\u2019t give me the same joy, because it is so sad. That is why, when I sing, I like to sing songs that help to lift me up.<\/p>\n Jimmy Rodgers<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cHoneycomb\u201d brings special memories for me. When I was a little boy, it was a favorite love song, and I remember going with my big brother on our bicycles, peddling a long way to downtown Salisbury to listen to this song. It was at an ice cream shop, and we would order a scoop of ice cream each, with some sweet sauce on it, and put money in the jukebox to hear this sing. All that trouble and energy to hear one song, but the memories are sweet. This song has a double memory too, because this was the song I sang on TV in Bulawayo when the evangelist came on the show, and I had to come on right after him singing: \u201cHoneycomb won\u2019t you be my Baby?\u201d That experience caused a big change in my life.<\/p>\n Many of the songs I link to on the YouTube seem to get removed. Maybe they were pirate copies, or maybe they were stolen by the Pirates of the Caribbean.
