When I was young there were a lot of hit songs that were just instrumentals, so I have decided to share some of them with you.
Here is a swinging little song. I used to know an old time song that I can’t find on the net, called Wagon Wheels, that went like this: “Wagon wheels, wagon wheels, keep on turning, wagon wheels. Roll along, sing your song, wagon wheels carry me home.”
Red River Rock by Johnny and the Hurricanes
One of my favorite love songs was Red River Valley, and this version tied it in with the rock and roll scene.
Walk Don’t Run by The Ventures
This was very popular, and I heard it again recently on the radio.
The other day a mail lady mentioned this song to me, so here it is by the Beach Boys. We have had some real bad weather here in Canada recently.
Baby Elephant Walk by Henry Mancini
This song was a hit when I was a kid, and it was only about a year ago I discovered it was on the John Wayne movie “Hatari.”
We had a record in Rhodesia of The Ventures teaching you how to play the three guitars. I think this song was used as the background music for an advert on TV.
Red Sails in the Sunset by Billy Vaughn
When I was little, my aunt and uncle in Uvongo used to play this song on their mouth organs on their veranda at sunset. Nice memories.
Somewhere in my youthful childhood I seem to remember hearing this song.
Sail Along Silvery Moon by Billy Vaughn
I love this song. The music is so nice. It would be nice if someone could make a nice power point of this song with two lovers by the beach in the moonlight.
Stranger on the Shore by Acker Bilk
This was another hit song when I was a teenager.
Here is another nice song, that makes me want to be by the beach.
Hit Instrumentals – Amazing Grace – Bagpipes
I played in a band once where the keyboard man had bagpipes on his keyboard. Unfortunately my keyboard doesn’t have bagpipes, but I make use of the drums and the strings instead.
