The Shadows

Zambezi by The Silver Shadows

The song I had by The Shadows got deleted, so I have put this one in instead. This song title runs close to home. The Zambezi River ran through the middle of our country, before it got all split up. When we were at the Bulawayo trade fair, I remember seeing movies of the Zambezi River when the waters were rising, and the people were catching all the wild animals, and taking them to safety. With the building of Lake Kariba, the waters rose, and all the wild animals would have drowned. The movies were called: ‘Operation Noah.’ When I was a teenager we had a church camp on the edge of Lake Kariba, on the Northern Rhodesia side, and I remember sitting in the moonlight next to the water. Many years later, in Canada, it dawned on me that there were crocodiles in those waters, and I could have been eaten.

Victoria Falls – Zambesi

The song got deleted earlier, but it is up again, this time with pictures of Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls is twice as high as Niagara Falls and a mile wide. One time when were were there, there was an English tourist with his camera and massive zoom lenses, when a warthog and her three babies ran across the path in front of us. He was under so much shock that he didn’t even take any pictures, but turned to his wife and said: “Theeeey aaarrree wiiiiild animals!” It was so funny. What did he expect in Africa?

Sunset – Zambezi

Here is the original one I put on my site last year, and it is back again, so I have included it. For our honeymoon my Mother booked us on a trip to the Falls, and the “Sunset Cruise” on the river above the Falls. It was so beautiful, and the hippos would pop their heads out of the water around the cruise ship.

Shadoogie

The song I had here last year got deleted, but I have found another version of them playing, dated 1989. I think this song was on the record I mentioned earlier. I love their music.

Shazam (cover)

This song by The Shadows got deleted from my site, so I have put on Tom Jet and MTG’s instead. They play good too.

 Savage

Here is a video of them ‘live’ back in 1961. I don’t know the location.

Foot Tapper

Here is another one of their foot tapping songs. I hope you like these selections.

Peace Pipe

The Shadows have so many nice songs, but all good things must come to an end, so I have finished this page with ‘Peace Pipe.’ I have put this one on because it has beautiful pictures. It looks like British Columbia, or somewhere in the Rockies, and we pray for peace in our time.

I also have a Gospel web site. If you want to check it out, go to:  http://countrygospelandbible.com/
