Easy Listening Love Songs

Sailor

Sometimes I am in the mood for some easy listening favorite love songs like ‘Sailor.’ This was a hit song for Petula Clark when I was young, and it came back to me recently. We went on a sea trip once in Durban, but the wind whipped up and it got very cold. I understood then about sea sickness, as the boat was rocking around on the waves. I guess many of you folks out there have had wonderful experiences on the sea.

Sitting on the dock of the bay

The song I had loaded here was taken away, so I have replaced it with this version by Rick Devin. It is done very well. I heard people talking on the radio of how the original artist: Otis Redding died in a plane crash, then his song became a big hit. Lots of things in life just don’t seem fair. Some of the words in the song I find very interesting. He says “I can’t do what ten people tell me to do.” So often people keep telling you what to do and how to run your life, but they are not in your shoes. You have to do what you feel is best for you. I feel like going back to San Francisco again, and sitting on the dock of the bay, taking it easy and singing some easy listening love songs!

Uh-oh I’m falling in love again

I liked this Jimmy Rogers song when I was young, but I couldn’t sing it because I wasn’t married. But it is a good song. When I sang, I felt I had to songs that were real for me. Now the song is real for me because I am married and have children. I decided to put this song in the easy listening love song section, but for a lot of songs, it is hard to know what category to put them in.

I’m a believer

When I first heard this song by the Monkees, I was in the Matopos mountains near Bulawayo doing survey work. It felt like we were far away from civilization, yet the boss’ radio kept us in touch with the rest of the world. I wished one day I could make a hit record, and have my own band. I was going to put this song in the rock and roll section, but it ended up here in the easy listening love song section.

Diana

This song by Paul Anka was a hit when I was little, and at our school there was a girl called Diana. I admired her greatly. She seemed like such a nice girl. Then my parents had a daughter and called her Valerie, but needed a second name for her, so I suggested Diana. Later my parents changed her names around to make them Diana Valerie.

Easy Listening love song about Little Arrows

Back in the 60′s this song was on top of the hit parade for about six weeks. I was at college in Salisbury at the time. It is strange how some people like Leapy Lee have a hit song, and you never hear of them again. Other people have one hit song after another.

I also have a Gospel web site. If you want to check it out, go to:  http://countrygospelandbible.com/
