Favourite Love Songs by Ricky Nelson

Here are some of my favourite love songs by Ricky Nelson. He had a lot of good recordings, he had good looks, and a really good voice. I mentioned one of his songs under the title of Rock and Roll, but have decided to dedicate a page just to him. In the beginning, my plan was just to list the songs I used to sing, but it has developed into covering all the songs I like. Many of the songs I like, cannot be found on the internet, but I am just doing the best I can.

1. Mary-Lou

This was one of my favourite love songs when I was young. The music is so good. He is so good looking, but, like many of the singers, he doesn’t have the stage personality of Elvis Presley. If he did, it would really be so much better. This is part of a TV series with his parents TV show. Here he had the advantage of having parents in the business. I never saw the shows when I was young, as my parents didn’t have TV and I don’t know if it even aired in Rhodesia. I really love his music and
singing.

2. Teenage Idol

I have heard this song on the radio in Canada, and I really feel with this song. When I was in my mid twenties I visited South Africa and traveled from town to town singing, and was so lonely. It is a terrible thing to be lonely. After a couple of years I got married, and have not been lonely since.

3. There’ll never be anyone else but you for me – My favourite love song by Ricky Nelson

This will always be one of my favourite love songs. It is very sad that he died in that plane crash. My sympathies go out to his wife and children. I remember being in Toronto when he was singing there, and I wish now that I had gone to his show. He was on the comeback trail, and I bought one of his records at that time. He had changed his name to Rick Nelson, but I prefer the name Ricky Nelson, because that was the name I grew up hearing.

4. Stood Up

This is Rick when he is older, on his comeback trail.

5. It’s Late

This song seemed so exciting to me when we were kids. The thought of being out too late, and getting in trouble for it. To have to face a girls dad and try to explain your actions is pretty scary. To me it is still a really good song.

6. Travelin’ Man

This song is very popular with the radio people, because I hear it so often. However, it is not good to lead on a whole lot of girls around the world. Maybe it is a sailor song.

7. Poor Little Fool

This song is very real for young people who want to play around with people’s hearts. It happened to me when I was young.

It is so sad that he died in a plane crash. I hope he made it through the pearly gates. I also have a Gospel web site. If you want to check it out, go to:  http://countrygospelandbible.com/
